there’s a Czech transdude in one of my servers who was like going through the complex process of trying to get binders from the UK and it’s like my dude. that’s gonna cost a fuck ton cuz of brexit shipping and so i told him about an online shop in amsterdam. in the process of getting that info one of the irl trans guys i know is like “i have two old binders from that shop, why don’t we just mail it to him?”

so i’m mailing him two free binders (it’ll be super cheap to send within’ the eu) and in exchange i’m getting his grandma’s secret recipe for Žemlovka

this is the pinnacle. community is actually about secret grandma recipes and sharing used gender affirming clothing

grace-and-ace

If you’re in the EU, don’t order binders from the UK. I’m begging you to save yourself from the cost. Check out this shop instead:

https://www.trans-missie.com/en/er-he-they/binders/

They’re comfy, durable, discounted and full price options, swimming tops, mid length and long binders, sizing up to XXXL, and have other transgender items! Not just binders!

random-chaos-thoughts

Bwya (france) is a good option too! Smaller ship but they are good quality items

linellin

Also when it comes to shipping, if you’re in Eastern Europe just order from a shop in Poland! It’s a small brand but very trustworthy, literally ran by a single family!

New post. Help needed, urgently!

My friend Kaleigh needs to leave zir current living arrangement today, and ze needs money for a hotel stay for at least tonight and tomorrow. Ze'll also need money for a Lyft/Uber to get there.

Kaleigh gets zir SSI check on June 1st, about the same time I get my paycheck.

Kaleigh's PayPal (preferred):

CashApp: $KaleighOGrady

My CashApp and venmo are the same as my Tumblr url, but it's much preferred to use Kaleigh's PayPal so the funds can be used immediately

Also, notes I wrote down after a phone call with zir:

image

We don't know whether the banks will process the transfers before the end of the night. Ze's currently in a library which will close at 8pm (Eastern Daylight Time). If it doesn't go through in time, Kaleigh will need at least $70 for one more night at the motel + transport.

(If we could get enough for two nights, then Kaleigh could visit a bank branch during the day. If not, we'll both have gotten paid by then and we'll figure it out from there.)

After tonight, we have a plan for how to get zir housing situation stabilized. We just need help, hopefully, for one last night.

regicide1997

I've sent everything but my last two pennies, and I helped zir navigate to a grocery store near the library where ze can use SNAP to get food. We've also located a 24 hour restaurant near the motel where ze can stay until we can raise enough for the motel stay tonight. Kaleigh will probably need a Lyft/Uber to get to either the restaurant or the motel from the grocery store.

regicide1997

regicide1997

Kaleigh needs less than $2 to get an Uber to the restaurant or motel.

regicide1997

Kaleigh got the Uber back to that side of town. Ze still needs about $75 for the motel stay—it would be very much preferable for zir not to stay up all night in the restaurant.

regicide1997

image
regicide1997

My paycheck came thru at 5am. I immediately sent $100 so Kaleigh could book tonight for both of us. I'll be driving up there soon.

I also did a graveyard shift delivering Uber Eats on my bike, and consequently slept through my dental appointment.

regicide1997

This is no longer urgent, but I won't be able to pay anyone back until next month.

regicide1997

My car just broke down. In Evansville. I'm fucking screwed. My parents get back on Wednesday.

regicide1997

Updates/clarifications/goals:

  • Apparently my parents don't get back until Saturday.
  • Kaleigh will need a motel room in Evansville from Friday until we're ready to leave.
  • The dealership service center says the car probably won't be fixed until next Wednesday.
  • I have an in-person appointment in Evansville next Thursday afternoon. Kinda lucked out on the timing there, since I'm already stuck in Evansville.

With all this in mind, we've booked a motel stay in Evansville for this Friday evening to next Friday morning. Cost was about $500, which we were able to pay, but that is a significant cut into the funds we've been saving up to go towards permanent housing (possibly a mobile home and/or RV).

regicide1997

My dad found out. He has hidden cameras in the house. I'm not getting my car back; punishment for breaking his trust.

I'm staying with Kaleigh at the motel. Not exactly welcome at the house anymore.

We're still figuring out our plans, but some extra money would be helpful.

regicide1997

I'll explain everything later, but I'm down to $0.14 in my checking account + i owe my dad $60, and we need a ride urgently

regicide1997

Actually, the ride is covered. Money is still tight tho

regicide1997

Overdue explanation: Some very kind people on Tumblr reached out to us offering a place to stay in the Detroit area while we try to get our housing situation stabilized.

This was in a different reblog, but we extended the Evansville motel stay by one night, so we checked out last Saturday morning. We also booked a motel stay in Indy for Saturday night/Sunday morning.

I had about $475 worth of United Airlines travel certificate credits from a trip that had been canceled back in March 2020 due to the pandemic. We used much of this to pay for a one-person trip from Indy to Detroit Sunday evening.

My mom drove us to Indy on Saturday; we dropped most of Kaleigh's things off in my apartment. (I've explained this in previous posts, but ze can't stay in my on-campus housing because ze's currently banned from all IU campuses; we are making progress towards getting that appealed.)

Unfortunately, while we were in the parking lot of my apartment building, figuring out what would stay with me and what would go on the flight, my now-former mother decided to burn every last bridge she had with us. Money was needed for rideshares to and from the motel bc we couldn't carry everything on the bus.

Was planning on making extra money doing Uber Eats deliveries, but I fell off my bike Tuesday night and broke my elbow.

A photo of my right arm, in a sling. It is decorated with enamel pins :)ALT

(It was not easy attaching those pins with only my left arm lol. Also why took so long to update. Typing difficult with only left hand.)

Going to try to get zir things from my apartment to zir at a concert in Indy tomorrow; partner of former (Kalamazoo) housemate is in one of the bands playing. Kaleigh has ride here. Ride back? Not sure. Might be hitching a ride?

..

Except now the people ze's staying with in Detroit are having a family emergency, and can't be home with zir, so ze'll need to find somewhere else to stay. So back to where is also a question.

Also, long term (will help credit scores), Kaleigh has about $2000 worth of overdue bursar bills that ze couldn't even log in to see until last week because ze lost zir 2FA devices months ago.

I'm scared. I love zir.

regicide1997

So, the Greyhound trip Kaleigh bought a ticket for doesn't arrive in Indy until Sunday morning, so ze's going to miss the concert, but I'll still be able to get zir things to zir. Thankful: gives more time to prepare and raise money.

A friend of Kaleigh's in Minneapolis has offered a place to stay as long as ze can get there. Lowest price Greyhound bus tickets on Sunday have a base price of $137 + $4 service fee, and Kaleigh is going to have extra luggage; I'll figure out exactly how much and update this post with the overall price at that point.

I have $134.47 in my checking account, plus $8.08 on my Uber Pro Card.

I'll also want to keep at least $30 for myself so I can buy a 31-day bus pass. Btwn my broken elbow and the reduced campus shuttle service for the summer, I'll need it.

regicide1997

Hey hi we both need money lol

regicide1997

So, turns out we actually haven't confirmed whether the friend in Minneapolis is able to accommodate zir. Still waiting to hear back from her. Kaleigh doesn't have a place to stay tonight, and even though I do, I won't leave zir side while ze's on the streets. I'll stay up all night to make sure ze's safe.

regicide1997

Please, if there's anyone in Indianapolis that can let us stay, even just for one night

regicide1997

We both stayed up thru the night. Kaleigh desperately needs rest

regicide1997

@anarchblr @helppeople @boost-the-signal @transnonbinarysupport

Please, we can't spend another night on the streets. We can't do this. Kaleigh's in a lot of pain, ze's out of pain meds, and we still have nowhere to stay. All our device batteries are dead except my phone, and we can't charge them without either us leaving things behind or me leaving Kaleigh behind, neither of which are acceptable options. Both of our mental healths are deteriorating rapidly

I get paid on the 30th. Kaleigh gets zir ssi around the same time. But we need help now.

regicide1997

We are extremely thankful for the donations. Also, we found out that the 31-day bus pass (student discount price: $30) could be billed to the university bursar account, so I don't need to pay for it until next month (after payday).

Kaleigh's upcoming SSI income just increased to $823.

We finally made it to a hotel—and a comfortable and accessible one at that, where we can do some much-needed healing.

A little bit of help to make tomorrow specifically a bit less uncertain would be nice.

regicide1997

We are good until Sunday morning. Still need to find a more permanent place to stay.

regicide1997

I've been hesitant to reblog this because Venmo has fucked me over and won't let me change my display name away from my deadname, but we're pretty desperate again.

Also, Kaleigh's Venmo seems to be working now?? Only with standard ACH transfers, tho (1-3 business days). Zir account is @/Kaleigh-OGrady-1 if you prefer that, I guess.

regicide1997

Learned what color my bank app displays when the balance goes negative today! 🙃

regicide1997

I've gotten everything fixed with my Venmo. Not sure how.

regicide1997

At this point, we're looking for affordable camping supplies, so that way the elements will be survivable until our next paychecks.

regicide1997

Also, if there's anyone in the Indianapolis area with a backyard or something. Even if you can't accommodate us inside your house, at least a safe place to camp??

Or advice on where we can camp safely.

regicide1997

The place we've been staying got attacked last night by people with firecrackers. Please!

regicide1997

We got some help after this post, and booked a motel stay, but tonight's our last night.

I lost my phone. I can't do Uber Eats deliveries without my phone. I've been doing them on bike despite my broken elbow, because we need the money--but without my phone I can't even do that.

We. Need. Help.

Since Pride Month is right around the corner, this is your reminder that:

• In late 2022, the Department of Homeland Security had added LGBTQ+ to their list of potential targets for terror attacks following the Club Q shooting

• Multiple US states are pushing for (and have passed) a number of transphobic laws, ranging anywhere from age restrictions on gender affirming care to stripping parental rights from parents of transgender minors

• Earlier this year, the state of Tennessee criminalized Drag performances and made it so offenders could spend years in prison

This is also your reminder that the Stonewall uprising was a protest started by Marsha P. Johnson, a Drag Queen, and Sylvia Rivera, a transgender Drag Queen. The first Pride parade happened to commemorate the Stonewall uprising one year later.

Three points from this article I really want people to take away from it:

1.

"There often comes a pivotal point during radicalization when a person first faces the consequences of their extremism when they have to decide whether to make amends and reintegrate themselves into their communities or to double down, retreating further and further into a self-reinforcing universe of alternate facts and realities."

2.

"The “concerned parent” trope in news articles has emerged as one of the most pernicious forms of American anti-trans propaganda, according to Dr. Julia Serano, the famed trans writer and biologist.

“These pieces strike trans-unaware audiences as ‘fair and balanced’ because they seem to show ‘all sides’ of the story,” Serano wrote recently in a piece about how even mainstream publications like The New York Times and The Atlantic have frequently elevated the voices of non-affirming parents while obscuring those parents’ ties to extremist anti-trans organizations.

“These articles make it seem as though these parents simply want what’s best for their child,” Serrano wrote, “when in actuality these parents are heavily invested in disaffirming and suppressing their child’s trans identity.”

3.

“If there’s adults in your life or if there’s people in your life or friends or whoever the fuck that you love, that you’re worried about losing over this, and if you’re like… ‘if I come out this person might abandon me,’ that’s their decision that they’re making,” Renton says. “That is 100% not on you. It doesn’t mean you’re fucking bad. It doesn’t mean you’re wrong. It doesn’t mean there’s something broken with you. That is someone else being fucked up.”

“Ultimately, community will find you, and you will find community, whether it feels impossible or not,” he says.

“We’re not going anywhere.”
